"Cranford Cougars"
Posted on Dec. 27, 2011 by GG
Tommy graduated from Cranford High School, located
in Cranford, NJ, in 1971. A member of his high school alumni committee
asked Tommy if he could write a "sing-along" type reunion
song for the attending alumni. Tommy emailed that he would do
so.
Soon after, Tommy regretted this reply. All the
songs Tommy had written before were about topics that came into
his mind. This was the first time he tried writing a song about
a topic not of his own choosing. Tommy at first had no idea where
to even start. Happily Michael Appello, a close friend of Tommy's,
told him what an honor it was to be asked to write such a song.
This inspired Tommy to take on the challenge.

Soon therewafter, Tommy was attending a 4th of July
party at a friend's house. The next day, as Tommy sat in the gazebo
with coffee and a bagel, ideas for the song started dancing in
his heads. About 48 minutes later, he had the first verse and
chorus for the song. Tommy was relieved to have completed the
song- or so he thought!
Three weeks later, at a rehearsal with New Wrecking
Crew Band, Tommy sang the song to GG and his wife Terri. They
liked the song but felt it needed another verse. Tommy didn't
like the idea - he thought the song was done and wanted to keep
it that way - enough was enough. Then Terri said the magic words
- "One verse isn't enough, I want to hear more of what you
have to say." These words struck Tommy as a sincere request
from a loyal fan. "She said the right words," Tommy
said later." It encouraged me to add a verse. The thought
that a fan wanted to hear more of what I had to say inspired me
to revisit the song."
About a week later while driving in his car, the
ideas and lyrics for the second verse popped into his head. He
pulled over to the side of the road, wrote down the lyrics, and
continued on his way. It was twenty minutes well-spent.
Later in the studio, while working on other projects
with GG, Tommy sang him the completed second verse. George liked
it, and went to work on production of the song. Playing all the
instruments himself, George put together the musical track that
Tommy sang to at the reunion. His performance was a big hit with
his classmates, not mention an honor and thrill for Tommy!
The completed track will soon be released on iTunes,
with proceeds going to Cranford Cares Charities.

New Wrecking Crew Rehearsals
Posted on July 19, 2011 by GG
GG and Tommy Vegas and the New Wrecking Crew have
been rehearsing. Happily, most of "The Usual Suspects"
are able to make the trip with us, although of course we wish
they all could. It was interesting in that the band members had
never met each other before, coming into the studio on separate
days before now. Happily, they are all talented musicians and
great people and the rehearsals went swimmingly! Here is a picture
of the "Cooperstown Edition" of our small but loyal
crew.

"Hit King" is Getting Airplay!
Posted on July 10, 2011 by GG
"Everybody Loves the Hit King" is getting some nice
airplay on Country radio nationwise. We've had reports we've been
played on Sirius Country 350 and several other stations all over
the country.
"Hit King's" Catching On!
Posted on April 16, 2011 by GG
George and Tommy are really psyched as "Everybody Loves
the Hit King" is catching on and getting played on different
radio stations. We're trying real hard to get the song out there!
ESPN played it last week on their "Gridlock" radio show
and we hope to have it played on AM 1100 in Las Vegas this week!
We also have several pending TV and radio appearances in the works,
so stay tuned!

We're thrilled to be releasing our first song, "Everybody
Loves the Hit King" in conjunction with Pete Rose's 70th
birthday. The great Pete Rose's illustrious accomplishments on
the field include 4,256 careeer hits and over twenty other MLB
records. Though Pete retired from playing in 1986, many of them
still stand! Pete's been away from the game he loves since 1989
and we feel that's much too long! He should be reinstated and
put n the Hall of Fame where he belongs. Tommy and I wrote this
song to tell the world that it's long overdue!
"Fat Teddy"

One of the things Tommy and I like to do in our songwriting is
tell a good story. Being a true Vegas guy, Tommy has a million
of them and knows many colorful characters. As time goes on we'll
be releaseing songs about more of them! This song is about a character
Tommy knows from Vegas, as are many of the songs we write. He's
a guy who loves to drink too much and winds up getting into all
kinds of misadventures. I'm sure most people know a guy like him!
